Baby Boy!

Sorry for such a long absence. I hope to post more regularly from now on! This pregnancy has changed me from my normal productive blogging self to a much more low-key, laid back, come what may blogging GAL.

That being said...

We found out a few weeks ago from the ultrasound that we are having a baby BOY! Finally, I can now start  all the projects that I put on hold...while waiting to find out if our newest baby was going to be a boy or a girl. Knowing that baby number #3 is a boy is very exciting and I couldn't be more relieved that the ultrasound of the baby looks very healthy. What more can I ask for?

I have several major projects on my to-do list including getting the nursery ready, designing a few new baby quilts, making a diaper bag, car seat cover etc.

First up: Baby Quilt No. 1 ~ Wonky Log Cabin

Nothing feels as good to me as knowing I have finished my (one of my) baby's quilts. I loved making this quilt. It was easy. The pattern is very simple and because of the "wonky" a bit more playful than the traditional log cabin. I got to use to alot of my scraps and it felt so good to dig in to my "scrap stash".

I choose 5 primary colors: red, yellow, blue, green and orange. The blocks are 12" and the quilt measures 48" by 60". I originally was planning to make the squares 8", but they just looked so puny being only 8" so I bumped them up to 12" and am much happier with the result. After considering the idea of a border I nixed that idea and am going to add a small 2" black border to frame the squares and attach the binding too. Hopefully I can show you the results soon.
