Ella started a fun little quilting pickle and our first meeting was on Saturday. We had such a great time...the food was yummy (I made chocolate covered strawberries!!) and Ella made a delicious layered jello salad. It was such a hit, we decided we have to have jello every time we meet! The weather also co-operated after a cold, wet June the day was beautiful!
I am excited we are going to make a quilt for Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer foundation, once a year they have a huge quilt auction. When I make my blocks I will post them...the colors are white, pink and green.

A Cherry for Me and You!
We had dinner last night at my sister-in-law and brother-in-law's house and they have a very beautiful, large garden. I was asking them about their fruit trees and she said because of all the rain and mild temperatures the Cherries are a month behind. I have never been so happy in my whole life for a cold, wet June.
Her trees were bursting with fruit, the evening was picturesque and I was in heaven. I loaded my bucket with wonderful cherries, the kids played soccer, the dads chatted and all while the sun ~ set. Who could ask for more?I probably came home with five pounds of Cherries: I picked to my hearts content and my sister-in-law was so sweet to share.

Hello Friends!
Hi Everyone, I'm back. I went on a nice week long trip to California (with the boys) to see my sister and her kids. Relaxed by their pool, got burned at the beach and enjoyed yummy Oxnard strawberries. Since getting home I am trying to get back into blogging, catching up with my other sister who moved around the corner from me and house mommy mode.
On our trip home we rented High School Musical 3 (HSM3) for the kiddos to watch in the car. Once home I sat down and watched it ~ (much too dangerous while driving!). It was a very cute and I loved the music. Most importantly it got me thinking about how much I love musicals ~ they are my favorite type of movie! So I thought I need to make a top 10 of my favorite musicals.

Tea Garden Skirt
It has been crummy weather the last several days with the sun barely peeking out over the clouds. I am beginning to worry about my flowers (not getting enough sun) and feel like the sun might now show itself for my birthday, very sad.
On to happy thoughts and speaking of birthdays; this is a busy birthday-celebrating month for many family and friends and one particular friend is turning ONE!

Merry-Go-Round
I saw this quilt hanging in one of my favorite quilt stores and fell in love! It is an American Jane Pattern and I thought it would look great done in polka-dots. I got together with my accomplice in quilting crime and we each picked our favorite polka-dots. After much consideration and deliberation we choose our top 40 dots, and got busy ironing, cutting, stripping and sewing.
I initially was intimidated by the hexagons, but once I learned it was made by strip piecing I was in heaven. This quilt got really interesting mixing and matching all the colors and dot patterns. I can't wait to finish it and get it on my bed!

I decided to add a final black border to the outside of the quilt so that it could be a fit little better on my king size bed.

City of Roses
I am originally from Portland, Oregon and when I tell people that they say: "Oh, Oregon is so green and beautiful! But what most people don't know is; Portland is famous for its Roses. The first two weeks in June the city celebrates the Portland Rose Festival. The Rose Festival is celebrating 102 years and still going strong with fun activities like: dragon races, waterfront carnival, queen coronation, Grand Flora Parade, and of course Rose Competitions.
So, being the Rose Girl that I am...on our walk yesterday I noticed the rental house at the end of the street (which is unoccupied) has all their gorgeous roses in bloom. On our way home I picked a few and now have a little something to remind of Rose Festival week.

A little about me
Since I am turning 30 in just under 10 days I thought I would share alittle about me. Somethings are note worthy, some quirky and some are just down right me! I have dreamy friends who could complete this list faster and probably easier than I could but, here we go:
Favorite "thingy": STRAWBERRIES
Favorite shape: heart
Favorite color: PINK
In high school I was a three time State Champion in Track and Field. Because of that I got a full ride scholarship to run for Vanderbilt University in college.
Favorite food: my Mom's tacos (my record is 6)
Favorite painter: Jan Van Eyck
Favorite book: Gone with the Wind, by Margaret Mitchell
Favorite movie: Dirty Dancing (because it reminds me of Jeanelle and college)
Favorite holiday: St. Valentine's Day!
A dreamy afternoon to myself would be: an ice cold glass of milk, my Mother's german chocolate cake and a really inspiring book.
I hate small talk and find silence can be extremely awkward if not with close friends.
I don't like salt water, pudding, yogurt, dark chocolate, carbonated anything (yuck) or rodents.
I had my second son naturally without any drugs.
Favorite singer: Karen Carpenter
I love to quilt and design my own patterns. I started 8 years ago when I was engaged and wanted to make my own wedding quilt. Since then, I have learned what a cutting mat and a rotary cutter are and how to how do a bias binding and have been taught applique from one of the best.
I love my family: my boys and husband. They are the light in my life.
