Nusery Photos

I am really proud of myself. I love baby nurseries and when I was pregnant I had a sweet, simple vision for what I wanted Henry's nursery to look like. I am almost done. Just a few more finishing touches and I can show you the whole room.

When I was pregnant, I knew I wanted my amazing friend and extremely talented photographer to take my birth photos for me. I wanted the experience of giving birth to be documented through photos. I couldn't have been more pleased with the results.....every time I look at these photos I am reminded sweetly, of my baby's birth.

Here are the details:

Pictures: Black and White Photos 12 x 12. (Costco Printing, I think they do a great job)

Frames: IKEA, Ribba Frames 20 1/2 x 20 1/2

Matting: Roberts Craft framing department. I picked out the matting and had them cut the mats to fit my photos.

With so many precious photos to pick from, I like that in a few months I can switch these out and enjoy a whole new set of birth images. (Descriptions from L-R)

• They have just given me Henry. He is all wrapped and has his little hat on. It is really hitting me. He is all mine.
• I swooned when I first saw this photo. Adam and I becoming parents all over again.
• I am a tough sell liking a photo of myself, but this one I could stare at all day. I love my serene face. You would have never guessed a few minutes before I had an unmedicated birth! I am at peace.

New Year Snowflake

When the New Year rolls around I love put away my Christmas wreath and have my door help me "ring" in the New Year. It must be from living in Utah and knowing January is a hard cold month, but I love to have something cheerful and bright waiting for me when I open my door. Nothing like a Snowflake with colorful festive ribbon to say "I know it is cold outside, but get in here, it's warm and toasty!"

One of my vendors from the Art Shoppe sells these great wire creations. I got an apple last spring for my son's teacher and I also have a heart for Valentine's Day. When she was setting up I knew I couldn't pass up the Snowflake.

To make things easy on myself (still recovering from the Holidays) I went through my stash of ribbon. Now this is the exact reason why I shop ribbon sales. To have a stash and thus a large inventory of ribbon in which to pick from. My general rule is: always shop ribbon sales and if you can't buy the entire spool, buy at least six feet.

I picked 4 ribbons varying in size and color and threaded them through a hole in the side of the snowflake.

I tied a knot and repeated the process on the other side.

I left myself a generous amount of ribbon length to make a lovely bow and let the ends just hang.

Here's to hot cocoa, a few more sledding parties, boots, mittens and a warm welcome next time my friends stop by.

Get Inspired for Halloween

Over the weekend, me and the boys got out all our Fall and Halloween Decorations. I love Halloween, but really who doesn't? The ghosts, ghouls, witches, pumpkins, black cats, candy and much more. I've got big plans this Halloween and I am inviting you all to come and play along: crafts, parties, ideas, recipes, giveaways and more.

An Angelic Nativity

About the middle of the month, we started receiving little packages every night on our door. The first one had three wise men and a scripture, the second night was the a shepard with a sheep and a scripture, the third night...you get the idea. It was so fun. The boys absolutely loved and looked forward to each present until the whole nativity was compete.

We have an absolutely amazing nativity sets from Adam's Mom which I threaten the kids to even touch with an inch of their lives. (She wouldn't be to happy if she knew that.) But it is a prize possession. So, this nativity is great, because Thomas and Jack have loved looking at the pieces and resetting up the nativity about a 100 times.

The scriptures have been great - not just the standard scriptures but really great thought provoking scriptures about each member of the nativity. At the end we were a little sad, our very thougthful friends never revealed themselves....it will remain a mystery. But a greatful
thank you all the same. Thank you!
